Tony Collins reminds us how God acts with his power in our weaknesses. God doesn't help those who help themselves; he does help those who acknowledge their weaknesses; He wants to use those weaknesses for His glory.

There is so much power from God that can be realised when we acknowledge our weaknesses to Him. Taking a look at Gideon, Moses, Peter, David and John amongst others in the Bible shows us.

God loves imperfect people - He created us like that quite deliberately. Our ministry begins when we acknowledge our vulnerability; Paul shows this when he describes his humility in his letters. Taking Paul's example we need to see ourselves as a Trophy as Grace; acknowledge your weaknesses and allow God to provide the power to get through.

Wilson Gill helps us to consider how we can think and act more like the Servant above all: Jesus.

When we are thinking about our shape it is important to have a model: Jesus. We know that Jesus came to serve and that he was faithful and dedicated to that mission. We need to do the same. We need to have a mind like Jesus; think like him. Jesus served others with timing completely in God's control; are you prepared to allow God to determine your schedule?

Jesus was obedient; he gave his upmost all of the time. He was re-tyred not retired! Trust worthy and reliable - are we?

What does it mean to follow Christ? He was humble and left behind everything to pursue His father's desire for His life. But He maintained a low profile; like a steward; keeper; caretaker; custodian. He was focused and single minded; He didn't compare; criticise or compete.

Finally Wilson reminds us that we are significant, secure and accepted if we follow Christ; acting and thinking like a Servant.

Andrew Blyth asks us this question which on the surface looks like it refers to our physical being but on further explanation actually gets us to think about our spiritual and mental being too. Referring to the following references:

Andrew asks us to be a church that is provocative but not in a way that makes us feel uncomfortable as individuals. He reminds us that our every day lives are the act of worship that God created us to be; it is what we do at work, at the school gate, when we shop etc. that is the act of worship - not church on a Sunday. We are all unique and given different gifts to complement each other so that we can serve together in harmony - with the grain. On that basis we need to use our "shape" to tune and turn our lives, conversations and eactions in every day life to God.

It is often said that it is our most painful experience that lead to our most powerful ministries. But that pain is not something we should shy away from because we know that God has created us to be the perfect "shape" to manage and cope with the experience. Instead we need to consider and learn to know our "Shape" so that we can serve God with maximum effectiveness.

Andrew explains how ordinary Mary really was and how it was God that did something extra ordinary because of her obedience to him. God knew that Mary was willing to do anything for Him - specifically not generally.

Mary listened, accepted and acted because through her obedience she knew that it was actions that counted.

Andrew asks us to consider our own obedience; in particular if we consider it to be in the General or the Specific. He encourages us to consider that if we are finding it hard to be obedient in the general then we need to find ways to love God specifically. As Mary found the answers in her love for God so will we.

Chris Dalladay challenged us to consider whether or not we were really ready and even if we were, what were we ready for? He explained that Yule means to turn, the Yule Tide is a turning tide, the time when days change from getting shorter to getting longer. In Christianity, it is a time when we are turning to look for Christ; advent being the time when we are preparing for his coming.

Chris reminds us that when we prepare, we must also consider that God looks beyond the outward appearance and into our souls. In our preparation, God is looking for us to turn away from our sins. Away from the obstacles that get in the way of us preparing for Christ to arrive in our lives:

He reminded us that Jesus took these things away John 3:16-17. So that we can endeavour to spend every moment of our lives, living as if Jesus will return tomorrow (not just once a year at Christmas).

If we have a real faith in these real times we need to acknowledge that we are real people and be prepared to actively hold tight to it; to not be swayed by circumstances; nor believe that we can judge others. We need to take courage and assertively believe.

David explains that God Chose us, God gave to us and God promised us. He knows us just like he knows his Son. God is clearly for us (Romans) and so we have no enemies. But we only know this if we have read and understood the Bible.

Books are OK being free but you need to read them. It is the same with the gift of love and grace that is passed to us through the Holy Spirit and the Bible!

"There are known knowns. These are things we know that we know. There are known unknowns. That is to say, there are things that we know we don't know. But there are also unknown unknowns. There are things we don't know we don't know."

We are at the front line of what God is doing... are we going to take responsibility and prepare for it?

Parables speak to people who are disciples of Jesus. We need to be instep with God's enduring values not the world's 21st Century values. As a Christian we need to be bothered about what God says. Keep your eyes fixed on the right thing - otherwise you will struggle. Take responsibility for yourself.

We need to get it in our hearts and not just in our heads. Our faithfulness needs to be deep routed in God. The word of God can only cut through the thorns and strike our hearts if we read it!

If you want to grow - take responsibility for yourself! Listen and do what God calls you to do.

Andrew reminded us that our purpose is not about making us "happy" but making us "holy" and that we are uniquely qualified to be the person we are with Jesus love expressed to others through us. Only the power of God in us will give us the strength for us to continue in our purpose.

Our purpose in life is clear and for us to know this, God needs to be at work in us every day.

Challenging us to consider the language we use, she encouraged us to allow the Holy Spirit to make us interested and also to get out there (rather than being an arm chair evangelist!).

In the first of our Lent studies, Andrew Blyth asks to consider if we are on a Spiritual Quest or a Religious Hoop Jumping journey. He also asks us if we have a contract or a covenant relationship with God. Albert Einstein said that there are two ways to live: assuming that nothing is a miracle or assuming that everything is a miracle.

We were reminded that the Beatitudes are a covenant promise not a contractual agreement and that Jesus called for right living not Religious obedience.

There is an amazing upside down kingdom awaiting where things that are of value here on earth are of no value there. God's kingdom is thrown open to all those who feel they are not good enough.

Andrew Blyth asks us all to consider why we compare ourselves to others when it is not at all about what we think of others or what others think of us but actually it is all about what God thinks.

Grace is His gift given to be received; Humility is like good underwear, we all need it on the inside. Don't judge or allow yourself to be judged. As Paul says, press on doing right, loving mercy and walking humbly with our God.

The difference between giving and sharing is in fellowship. Authenticity is about being eal; Mercy is about living forgiveness; Mutuality is about giving and receiving; Sympathy is about jy and pain.

Wilson Gill starts a new teaching series on "Living with Jesus" starting with "A New Way of Life". He challenges us to consider the Bible's sustainable model shown by Jesus in the bible when he encourages them to Come, Learn and then continue His work; it is a universal call to all. Revolution - Give all you have to the poor (not just money)

Resolution - to make a personal commitment

Andrew Blyth showed us how the bible talks to us through families and the various characters and personalities within a family. He explained how the world really needs to hear a number of things about Salvation but in particular it needs to hear the following:

1. How a mother's character reflects that of gods
2. How God nurtures us just as we are nurtured in a family
3. How God empowers us just as we are empowered as we grow up

The cross that Jesus hung on and all that he went through for us is the power of God presented to renew and transform our lives so that we can enter into Glory (the sin and shame are what we see when we are there, not the other way around).
